3 "Stay In" Date Night Ideas

Valentine's Day is coming up so what perfect way (and time) it is to share some of AP and I's "Stay At Home" Date Night ideas with anybody interested!

Even before this pandemic, Friday's have been the staple date night AP and I committed to. We have been doing this for over a year now where we alternate turns planning every other week. It was easy at first because everything was open, but now we've had to be a bit more creative since we can't sit down in a restaurant, go to the movies and well, it's the middle of winter so .. you catch my drift.

Anyways, let's get back to some Stay At Home Date Night Ideas...

(*note none of the images, unless otherwise stated are my own and each are linked to it's perspectives)

1. Cozy Indoor Movie Night:

  • Create a cozy space with some pillows, fuzzy blankets and if you own some; throw down an air mattress. We suggest staging a nice spot on the living room or bedroom floor if space permits.
  • Make sure you guys have drinks; we love some craft beer (local of course), wine or spiked seltzer water. If you're more non-alcoholic; make sure you have your favorite drinks on hand!
  • Snacks! Snacks! Snacks! you can keep it classic by popping some popcorn and melting some butter or get creative. Have the classic popcorn and create a topping section so you guys can mix and match; salty & sweet? to die for! Or even get some finger food ready instead of  having a big dinner; loaded nachos, chilly cheese hot dogs, poutine? Better yet, order from your fave local places for delivery!
  • Choose a movie neither of your have watched: To make it all exciting and engaging, get an idea of the genre and choose a movie that neither of you guys have seen! It's amazing how much we pay more attention!

2. Dress Up & Dine In:

  • Create a Menu: Nothing fancy just use a Word document and list out a a 4-5 course meal (even better if you guys cook together) and print it. If you guys don't want to cook, order a 4-5 course meal (or whatever you guys want ) and get it delivered! (Make it your one day for take out)
  • Give each other some time to get ready: I mean glits and glam and think you're going to a 5 star restaurant where the attire is semi-formal. Ladies beat that face and use the make-up you haven't been able to use in almost a year and get extra pretty for your significant other and gentlemen get nice and handsome for your girl! Shave, clean up and put that after shave on! Both of you need to use those clothes that have been collecting dust!
  • Set the mood: Keep the theme romantic. No TV, maybe some candles or if you're anything like us - get the diffuser going with a nice scent (I recommend: All The Feels by Saje Wellness). Put on a nice playlist on your google home or alexa. Set the table nicely and make the placement of the food aesthetically pleasing (it's all in the details)
3. Paint Night
(This was brought to us by one of our dearest couple friends Caitlyn & Ryan):

  • Grab Your Supplies: Good Ol local Dollarama's will have what you need without breaking the bank. They have both solid and liquid water colour paint if you guys need or they sell tons of different types of paints (including acrylic). Grab 2 paint canvas' (they come in a variety of sizes), some paint brushes (for $1-$3) and some paint!
  • Charcuterie Board: Grab some cured meats, your fave cheese selection, some artisan bread (ACE Bakery Olive Bread is our favourite), crackers, Fig Jam (yuuum) and whatever else you'd like to add to your board!
  • Get some drinks: Craft Beer, Wine... Whatever you guys like! But you'll need it.
  • Set Up: All you need is a TV or laptop and there are endless paint night YouTube videos for you guys to view and follow (click here if you want to see one we like). There's anything from easy to intermediate.
  • Kick it up a notch: Sit on opposite ends of the room with your canvas turned away from one another. Surprise each other at the end with the outcome!
In all of these ideas, leave the phones from reach - enjoy each other's company and engage in great conversation! Take a few pics of course but don't get caught up with your phones.
